I typically describe myself as a constant learner, often exploring various ideas in the economics, finance, and energy arenas and very willing to engage in conversations and research in the discovery of knowledge. Back when I was 17, I read Gorgias, and its message guided my professional development by using knowledge for the benefit of society. When I learned about what the Healthy co-founders and team have developed, I became instantly enamored with the substantial positive impact that the innovations at Healthy could bring about to segments of the market and the population that are underrepresented or unable to benefit from the economic value that they frequently generate and contribute to society.

My educational background is in economics, with a B.A. and M.A. from San Francisco State University. Since then, I spent my career in the oil and gas industry in Alaska, first working for the Department of Natural Resources at the State of Alaska as a Petroleum Economist, Commercial Analyst, and Commercial Manager and now working as a Senior Tax Advisor at Santos Ltd. To further develop my skills in finance, I am currently pursuing the CFA designation, for which I have completed the exams for levels I and II.

My work has been primarily related to the economic valuation and financial modeling of upstream and midstream capital projects worth at least $100 million, providing advice to decision makers, presenting to public entities (e.g., the Alaska Legislature, FERC) as well as other oil and gas companies in the context of contract negotiations or settlements. I also have experience in the compliance area, especially responding to external audits, and providing advice and analysis regarding oil and gas taxes. At Healthy, my goals are to be involved in and provide guidance to the team related to the next financial milestones as well as contributing to the existing and future developments in fintech research and development.

A little bit about myself: My hobbies are spending my free time with my wife, my kid, and extended family, running outdoors, playing soccer, and reading an interesting book about history, economics, finance, or biography. I am particularly excited to read non-fiction related to cross-cutting research and applications, especially those in statistics and mathematics.
